Understanding MDAS for Kids

MDAS stands for **Multiplication, Division, Addition,** and **Subtraction**. These are the basic math operations we use to solve problems.

- **Multiplication** (×) is like adding the same number many times. For example, if you have 2 apples and you multiply by 3, it's like having 2 apples three times, which gives you 6 apples.

- **Division** (÷) is splitting a number into equal parts. If you have 6 candies and share them with 3 friends, each friend gets 2 candies.

- **Addition** (+) is when you combine numbers together. If you have 2 oranges and get 3 more, now you have 5 oranges.

- **Subtraction** (−) is when you take away a number from another number. If you have 5 cookies and eat 2, you have 3 cookies left.

MDAS helps you remember the order to do these operations in a math problem!
