"ABAKADA" refers to the traditional Filipino alphabet system. It is an older version of the modern Filipino alphabet, which is based on the Latin alphabet with additional letters. The term "ABAKADA" is derived from the first four letters of the old Filipino alphabet: A, Ba, Ka, Da. This system was used in the Philippines before the adoption of the current Filipino alphabet, which includes 28 letters. The modern Filipino alphabet was introduced to better represent the sounds of the Filipino language and to standardize spelling in Filipino publications.
