The "Alpabetong bata" or Filipino alphabet is the official writing system for the Filipino language, the national language of the Philippines. It is the core tool used by children (bata) to learn how to read and write in their native tongue.

Composition: The modern Filipino alphabet is composed of 28 letters.
The 26 Basic Latin Letters: It includes all 26 letters of the ISO basic Latin alphabet (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z).
The Two Additional Letters: It includes two letters unique to Filipino and its historical influences:
à / ñ (enye), which comes from Spanish.
Ng / ng (en-gii), which represents the single velar nasal sound unique to many Philippine languages.
Pronunciation: Unlike English, the letters' names are pronounced similarly to English, except for the distinctive letters like Ć.
