About this product

- Beginning Vowels Worksheets (A E I O U)
Sounds at the beginning of words are the easiest for kids to isolate, so we start their 'sounding out' practice by asking them to select the pictures with beginning sounds that match a given vowel. There is one worksheet per vowel.

- Kids usually start letter recognition by working on the vowels. In these worksheets, they identify the vowels in a group of letters. The goal is instant recognition of vowels.

- Short Vowel Worksheets
Kids are asked to circle the pictures that have particular short vowel sounds, like the 'a' in 'bat'. There is one worksheet for each vowel.

- Long Vowel Worksheets
Here are our phonics worksheets on identifying long vowels, like the 'a' in 'cake'. Kids circle the pictures of words with long vowel sounds. There is one worksheet for each vowel.

- Long Vowel Worksheets
A E I O U
Kids sound out the words and circle those with the given long vowel sound.

- Vowel Blends Worksheets
Vowel blends are groups of two vowels which together make a vowel sound. These worksheets are appropriate practice once the kid have learned the long and short vowel sounds.

- R-controlled Vowels Worksheets
Vowels can make a slightly different sound when followed by an r; these are called "r-controlled vowels". These worksheets give practice recognizing r-controlled vowels and the sounds they make.

- Word Families Worksheets
at, an, ap, et, en, it, op and ug words
These worksheets provide phonics practice with words grouped into families of words with common sounds.

- Beginning Consonant Worksheets
These worksheets help kids recognize and write consonants, consonant blends and digraphs, starting with the easier consonants and moving onto the more difficult ones.

- Beginning Consonant Worksheets
In these worksheets, students are given a mix of letters and are asked to circle the consonants. The goal is instant recognition of consonants.

- Ending Consonant Worksheets
Ending consonants are tricky to identify. Match the given consonant with the picture that ends with that consonant sound. Practice the consonant sounds until they instantly recognize the sounds of each letter.
