The best way to learn Japanese is to start with learning the alphabet. There are three basic writing systems you need to learn to be able to read Japanese: Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji.

You can start with vocabulary, though, but learning their writing system early on will allow you to read Japanese sentences in Japanese early on. They don’t do konnichiwa but こんにちは!
